Constable slightly injured by fleeing suspect's car
Officers noticed a suspicious vehicle in Marsa, which proceeded to run over a constable's foot after having its escape route blocked

A police constable suffered injuries to his foot after a suspect ran over it in a bid to escape police.
Officers in a police vehicle noticed suspicious activity around a Seat Cordoba in Triq il-Gerreja, Marsa, last night. After activating the police vehicle’s beacon lights, the suspicious car drove off. Two constables approached the Seat as the police car blocked its escape route.
One constable was injured when the suspect reversed his car over his foot. The other gave chase as the car drove to Qormi, where officers noticed the driver throwing something from his window.
The suspect, a 38-year-old Qormi resident, stopped his car and left the vehicle by himself. He was then arrested after disobeying police orders. After being taken to police headquarters, the man continued to threaten officers.
The injured constable was found to be suffering only slight injuries.
The suspect also alleged that he had been beaten and was taken to the Floriana health centre.
