Labour, PN snub BirdLife’s environment questionnaire
Environment NGO sends questionnaires to election candidates but only four from both PN and PL reply back.
BirdLife Malta's campaign for the 2013 elections.
Only one of the 70 PN candidates and only three from the Labour Party's 84 candidates have answered to a questionnaire by BirdLife Malta about the environment.
On the other hand, all of the nine Alternattiva Demokratika - the Green Party - candidates returned the questionnaires completed.
The candidates were asked by the environment NGO to state their positions on a number of important issues relating to wildlife and the countryside.
"We believe that people have a right to know the positions of their general election candidates on issues which affect the majority of people in Malta and that the candidates have a democratic obligation to answer these questions," BirdLife said in a statement.
