One person seriously injured in one of two separate car accidents last night

Five persons involved in two separate car accidents within an hour of each other last night with one person suffering life-threatening injuries after colliding into a pole.

A car accident took place late last night in Triq tal-Labour in Zabbar where a Toyota Vitz and a Fiat Fiorino collided while driving toward Fgura from Cospicua.

Following the collision with the Fiorino which was being driven by a 28 year old Birzebbugia resident, the Vitz crashed into a pole resulting in life-threatening injuries to the 27-year old male driver from Kalkara who was taken to Mater Dei for medical care.

Police Magistrate A Vella was informed of the case and appointed several experts to assist in the inquest.

Three persons escape car falling into the sea

Three persons were involved in a second accident late last night which resulted in their Opel Corsa falling into the sea in the area known as Jews Sally Port (l-Fossa) in Valletta.

Two women, aged 40 and 59, from Gzira and Ta’ Xbiex and a 43 year old British born man living in Floriana all safely made it out of the vehicle and were found by police on the rocks.

All were taken to Mater Dei hospital for any injuries they received during the incident.

Up until this morning, the two women were still receiving medical care but none of the persons involved suffered life-threatening injuries.

Police investigations are still ongoing.
