New Retail Price Index advisory committee appointed
Albert Leone Ganado to chair new Retail Price Index Advisory Committee.
The finance minister Edward Scicluna has officially appointed the seven-member Retail Price Index (RPI) Advisory Committee.
The committee will be chaired by Prof. Albert Leone Ganado and includes Michael Pace Ross, Alfred Camilleri, John Scicluna, Clyde Caruana, Dr Rose Marie Azzopardi and Lorraine Spiteri as members.
The RPI Advisory Committee's remit is to examine the monthly index prior to publication, and to satisfy itself that the Index reflects faithfully the general price level in the economy.
It also makes suggestions for the better collection and frequency of prices of items included in the basket of goods and services, and advises on the organisation of the Household Budgetary Surveys.
Leone Ganado replaces Reno Camilleri who chaired the board since 2001.
