MUMN should stop threatening with actions that harm patients - ministry
The health ministry replied to a statement made by the MUMN this morning, which threatened to issue issue directives on the bed shortage problem at Mater Dei.
“Patients are going to be badly affected when they shouldn’t be the ones to be blamed… the Union’s actions will also affect the management process underway addressing the bed-shortage at Mater Dei.”
The ministry said it is “embarrassing” how Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses president Paul Pace said he is “constrained” to take action on the matter “when he knows the hospital management is increasing its efforts for better management of beds.
The ministry appealed for the MUMN to “gather around a table and dish out its proposals instead of threaten with statements and actions against patients…and to avoid creating inconveniences with void actions that can harm vulnerable patients.”
