Quick translation job entrusted to PM’s son’s firm
Labour whip asks PM over contracts awarded to son's translation firm.
A parliamentary question yesterday revealed that Lawrence Gonzi’s son’s translation firm was entrusted with a €59 job by direct order.
Labour whip Joe Mizzi asked the Prime Minister what work had been entrusted to Global Translation Solutions by his office since 2004. The answer turned out to be a €1,581 contract awarded after a call for quotations by the Malta Tourism Authority, and the €59 order which does not require a public call.
Upon being elected PN leader and prime minister, Lawrence Gonzi had to face criticism over his son David’s legal and translation firm that had received some Lm24,000 (€55,900) for the translation of EU documents between 2002 and 2004.
