AD congratulates Australian Green Party leader following “great results” in general elections

Alternattiva Demokratika (AD) has sent two separate congratulatory messages to Australian Green Party leader Senator Bob Brown following the “great results” in the general elections in Australia.

Secretary General Ralph Cassar and International Secretary Arnold Cassola have sent messages of congratulations to the Green Party leader following the good results in the Australian polls.

In his message, Cassar explained that the Greens, together with three other independent candidates, “hold balance of power in Australian parliament, having elected their first ever MP in the lower house.

“In the Senate Greens increased their senators from six to nine after a fantastic 11.5% score,” Cassar told Brown.

Since laws also needed to be approved by the Senate, “the Greens are now in a position to influence legislation since they hold the key to a majority in the Australian Senate,' the AD secretary-general concluded his message to Brown.

On his part, AD international secretary Arnold Cassola told Brown: “On behalf of the Greens of Malta, I convey our heartfelt congratulations to the Australian Greens for the great success at the recent elections.

In his message, Cassola explained that a result of over 11% “is certainly no mean feat. Personally, it has been an honour for me to work close with you on various occasions.

“Keep up the good work,” he concluded his congratulatory message to Brown.
