In the Press: Person of interest in murder case has fled the country

Today's front pages are dominated by reports of the murder of a 36-year-old St Pauls Bay woman. Silvana Muscat was found dead in her apartment by a relative. A person of interest in the case is believed to have fled the country while a man arrested yesterday was released after police determined he was not involved. Muscat had filed a number of domestic violence reports in the past. 

The Times of Malta

A court yesterday heard how a former Labour electoral commissioner had been reported as mishandling voting documents by a voter. Two police officers were also charged with handing out voting documents to someone other than the intended recipient. 

In-Nazzjon

The MUMN has claimed that foreign nurses are more reasily employed than local ones. The union blamed the bureaucracy involved in the graduate employment scheme.

L-Orizzont

Only 36 drivers stopped working yesterday, despite a UHM directive to suspend the bus service between 6 and 8pm. Malta Public Transport said that the service continued as usual, with all routes operating normally. 

The Malta Independent

The GRTU yesterday said it was negotiating a potential scheme with the government that would see shop owners renting government property in Valleta given a 45-year lease.
