The Nationalist party has called for an inquiry into the way visas and residence permits are issued. Opposition leader Simon Busuttil, PM Joseph Muscat, the home and foreign affairs ministers as well as the commissioner of police met yesterday for a meeting of the National Security Council.

Albert Mizzi, Air Malta's first chairman and a well known entrapreneur, passed away yesterday at the age of 87. He was also known for his involvement in a number of other entities including HSBC Malta, SeaMalta and Middlesea Insurance.

Mosta mayor Edwin Vassallo said he was prepared to wash his hands of the responsibility for the town's roads, leaving the issues raised by residents in the Tad-Dib area to the government.
