Border controls are to remain in effect, even once the CHOGM is over. PM Joseph Muscat said the suspension of the Schengen will be reviewed from week to week. The suspension of the Schengen agreement led to the discovery of a racket of foreign nationals using false documents to enter the country.

Opposition leader Simon Busuttil challenged PM Joseph Muscat to take action against MP Joe Debono Grech after an incident in parliament during which he threatened fellow MP Marlene Farrugia.

In a tweet, Opposition leader Simon Busuttil spoke out against Muscat's announcement that Schengen rules were to be suspended, saying that the suspension breaches the right of EU citizens to travel freely.
