Kasco, the company of PM Chief of Staff Keith Schembri is the owning shareholder, won in total 13 contracts from 2004 to 2015, bringing in ‎€362, 000. The contracts were to provide paper to the government printing press. The documentation acquired by the newspaper stresses that Kasco had been awarded these contracts through an open and competitive process, as for 13 of those tenders the company always offered the lowest bid, and bar on one occasion.

The HSBC confirms the statement released by Keith Schembri and his business associate Malcolm Scerri through their lawyer. Local media had reported that HSBC 2013 documents found in the Panama Papers related to Schembri’s company were the result of an ‘administrative error’ since the Attard branch were they were issued had been closed the previous year.
