Armed Forces assist in evacuation of pregnant migrant woman out at sea

The Armed Forces of Malta were involved in an evacuation mission yesterday evening.

Having received a request for assistance from NGO vessel Vos Hestia at around 11pm, the rescue co-ordination centre dispatched an AW139 helicopter to evacuate a pregnant migrant woman who was on board.

The woman was transferred on board the AFM’s helicopter to the AFM airwing, from where she was taken to hospital by ambulance to receive the necessary treatment.
