Fostering children aged 5 is becoming more difficult than ever

Social work agency Appogg says difficulty to integrate with carers rendering fostering harder than ever.

Social work agency Appogg says fostering children aged five years and over has become more difficult than ever as children are finding it hard to integrate into families , while foster carers show marked preference for toddlers.

“The kids are getting used to life in an institution,” a spokesperson for Appogg told sister newspaper Illum. “That’s why there are cases of kids finding it hard to settle down in family life. We’ve seen cases like these already.”

There are 73 children waiting to be fostered in Malta, 48 of which are five years and older.
