Farage refuses to deny that he’s applying for German citizenship
Former UKIP leader spotted queuing outside German embassy in London, says 'none of your business' when asked by press whether he's applying for dual citizenship

Nigel Farage has refused to deny claims that he’s applying for dual German citizenship. The former UKIP leader was telephoned by BuzzFeed News after a Facebook user reported that she had seen him queuing outside the German embassy in London.
When asked what he was doing at the embassy, the UKIP MEP replied “None of your business”. When asked specifically whether he was applying for German citizenship, Farage, whose wife Kirsten Mehr is German, repeated “None of your business” before hanging up.
In a Facebook post, Leonie Witte said that she overheard Farage apologizing at the embassy’s counter “for not having some kind of document with the sentence ‘as you might have noticed I’ve been a bit busy lately’.”
Farage has devoted his political career to campaigning for the UK to leave the EU, but resigned as head of UKIP in the wake of last June’s Brexit referendum. He has maintained a low profile for several weeks, but returned to the spotlight last week, sporting a new moustache in an interview on Russia Today.
In the interview, he claimed to have single-handedly destroyed the far-right in British politics.
“We had a far-right party, the BNP, that was genuinely anti-Jews, anti-black, and I came along and said to their voters, ‘If you are holding your nose, and voting for this party as a protest – don’t. Come and vote for me; I am not against anybody; I just want us to start putting British people first.”
He also insisted that his followers have been misrepresented, with most media blaming them for a rise in hate crimes.
“There were some on the Brexit side who hurled racist abuse at Polish people – whatever, it happened. Equally, there were some on the Remain side who sent insults and threats through social media,” Farage said.
