25 killed in Bangladesh factory explosion

At least 25 people were killed when a boiler exploded in a four-story Bangladeshi factory near Dhaka early Saturday, authorities said.

A fire broke out after the explosion, which happened while employees were inside the facility in Gazipur district.

Fifty people were hospitalized with injuries, and the death toll is expected to go up as rescue efforts continue. Over 20 fire fighting teams were working to quell the blaze at the Tampaco Foils plant, which caused the partial collapse of the factory building.

Fire department officials initially identified the factory as a garment packaging plant, but later clarified that it packs food and cigarettes.
