Wholesale and retail trade businesses account for 20.1% of the total registered units in 2015

In 2015, registered units amounted to 87,971, marking a 10.9% increase over the number of registered units in 2014.

Registered units in financial and insurance activities amounted to 15.6%, professional, scientific and technical activities to 11.3%, administrative and support service activities to 7.8%, and construction to 7.7% of the total registered units in 2015, NSO reports.

According to statistics,  97.4% of registered units employ less than 10 persons and are considered micro entities, which varies between 100.0% in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, activities of households as employers; undifferentiated goods -and services- producing activities of households for own use, activities of extraterritorial organisations and bodies and 59.0% in public administration and defence. On the other hand, only 100 registered units employ more than 250 persons and are classified as large undertakings.
