Hunters’ reply to critic: FKNK mocks wildlife campaigner as ‘mental case’

Disastrous public relations choices of hunters’ lobby continues, this time by dubbing TV personality as a “mental case”

How to reply to a foreign personality who has come to Malta to monitor the hunting season and the derogation from the EU’s ban on Spring hunting?

The hunters surely have their own way of ‘dialogue’ – in a short, two-line statement, they have dubbed British TV personality Bill Oddie, a member of the League Against Cruel Sports,  as a “mental case, suffering from depression, committed mad actions, investigated and sacked from the BBC, HSBC, contemplated suicide, an extremist, defends others’ scruples.”

In the meantime, they have sent out to the press a series of cuttings of reports about Bill Oddie admitting to having contemplated suicide before finding out he suffered from bipolar disorder; that his depressive and changing moods forced him out of BBC’s Springwatch; and of defending fellow BBC presenter Rolf Harris from sexual harassment allegations.

Hunters’ federation FKNK are probably wondering what to say about BBC Springwatch presenter Chris Packham, currently in Malta monitoring the hunting season.
