Former Din l-Art Helwa president elected to international heritage NGO board

Former Din l-Art Helwa president Simone Mizzi has been elected to the executive board of the International National Trusts Organisation Board, a global network of heritage preservation NGOs.

“I am honoured to have been invited to join the leadership of INTO,” Mizzi said, following her election to the board during an international conference of national trusts held in Cambridge, England. “INTO connects a global network of national trusts with a powerful brand that inspires and attracts members and supporters the world over. INTO represents well over 7 million people spread across our planet.

“Din l-Art Helwa was a founding member of INTO in 2007.  It will be a privilege to play a role in shaping its future and representing Din l-Art Helwa and through it, Malta.”

Mizzi will be serving with Dame Fiona Reynolds, former director-general of the National Trust for England, Wales and Northern Ireland, who was elected to the position of chair as successor to founding President Professor Simon Molesworth.

INTO was founded in 2007 with the objective to promote the conservation and enhancement of the natural and cultural heritage of all nations for the benefit of the people of the world. Its main focus is to assist developing nations set up local associations for the preservation of heritage and the environment, to raise awareness of the threat to the global community from climate change.  INTO is also committed to the promulgation of responsible tourism around the world.
