Vodafone launches notifications system for mobile internet users

Vodafone is introducing a new data roaming service which gives all Vodafone customers who use internet on their phone, the ability to control the amount they spend on roaming.

The services, which allow customers to manage their internet costs, include data roaming spend limits and spend notifications.

The notifications service operates on a spent amount of €50 per calendar month, helping customers restrict their spending limits. This limit may be extended by dialling Vodafone’s customer car, or by sending an SMS with the rounded figure desired as a spending limit.

The default notifications system comes into play when the customer is using internet and the limit is reached, consequently bringing the roaming session to a halt. Vodafone will alert the users of this service by sending an SMS prior to reaching the spending limit and another when the limit is actually reached.

“Automatically, Vodafone customers will now have a €50 spend limit for data roaming with a notifications system that alerts them, puts their mind at rest and ensures that they will not overspend,” data marketing executive Alison Ellul said.

This service is helping Vodafone keep up with the current trends in technology and with Vodafone’s roaming rates already halved, “customers are given the best possible service at good value”, Ellul said.
