Former driver jailed for misappropriating €15,000 in bus tickets

Man sentenced to three years behind bars after being found guilty of misappropriating €15,000 in Arriva bus tickets

A former Arriva driver was this morning jailed for three years after he was found guilty of misappropriating some €15,000 worth of Arriva bus tickets.

The court heard how the accused tampered with the bus computer when he used the PIN number of another bus driver to attribute the sales to him.

He then pocketed some €15,000 in ticket sales that had been made February 2012 and earlier.

Taking the evidence into account, Magistrate Anthony Vella sentenced Gerada to three years behind bars after finding him guilty of misappropriation, relapsing, and of committing the crime during the operative period of a suspended sentence.

Inspector Jonathan Ferris prosecuted while lawyer Joe Giglio represented the accused.
