Man stabbed with broken mirror, aggressor jumps from window to evade police

Somali alleged to have stabbed man in stomach with a broken mirror jumprs from a second-storey window to evade police, injuring himself in the process after crashing on top of a car

Two Somali men were hospitalised after being injured in a dramatic incident in Birzebugga this morning.

Police told MaltaToday that the incident occurred at around 11:30am in Triq il-Kartaginizi when a 30-year-old man residing in Zejtun was injured after being stabbed in the stomach with a broken mirror.

When the police were called, the aggressor, a 41-year-old Somali residing in Birzebbugia, jumped from a second-storey window in an effort to evade police officers, injuring himself in the process after crashing on top of a Fiat Punto.

Both men were taken to Mater Dei Hospital. The 31-year-old man was certified as suffering from slight injuries, while the 41-year-old man was seriously injured.

Police investigations are ongoing.
