A 42-year-old Cospicua drug addict has admitted to attacking and slightly injuring his 11-year-old son and the child's mother.

The man, who is not being named by court order, pleaded guilty to having attacked the mother and son on 6 March in their home in Senglea, where the family lives with the rest of his three children.

He admitted to attacking the boy as he walked in the area and to threatening the mother and breaching the peace.

Magistrate Josette Demicoli suspended the handing down of his sentence to a later date, in order to observe the man's behaviour in the coming days. He was granted bail against a personal guarantee of €5,000, placed under a curfew and ordered not to go to Senglea whilst on bail.

Lawyers Michael and Lucio Sciriha were defence counsel. Inspector Josric Mifsud prosecuted. Lawyers Ludwig Caurana and Janice Borg appeared on behalf of the mother and son.
