Two men ‘suspected of terrorism’ arrested in Sicily, Italian media reports
Police stop two men who reached Pozzallo from Malta
Police in Sicily have stopped two Syrian nationals who reached Pozzallo from Malta and detained them on terrorism charges.
According to Ansa, the two men – one of whom is a minor – were stopped over terrorism suspicions. The Italian media reported that pictures of suicide bombers wearing explosive belts were found on their mobile phones, with the words “no mercy from today” written in Arabic.
The reports do not state when the arrests took place, but it refers to tightened security ahead of the G7 summit held in Taormina.
