A bill on the adoption of children in out-of-home care could mean a better future for the 400 children under care orders. The bill would free up for adoption children whose biological parents refuse to give them up, despite not being present in their lives.

This evening, the Opposition will be presenting a motion in parliament urging the government to lower fuel prices to reflect international prices.

Prime minister Joseph Muscat has defended the hedging system currently in place, saying that it allowed peace of mind in the event of sudden changes in oil prices. He gave the example of the recent death of the King of Saudia Arabia, which triggered a 2% rise in fuel costs overnights.

Former Marsa mayor Frank Zammit will likely be contesting the upcoming local council elections on the Lacour ticket, this newspaper claims. Zammit was an aide to John Dalli up until he resigned.
