100 refugees have reached Malta's shores so far this year, the majority of whom hail from Mali, Senegal and the Ivory Coast

100 refugees reached Malta’s shores so far this year, home affairs minister Carmelo Abela said.

Responding to a parliamentary question by Labour backbencher Silvio Parnis, Abela said that 87 of these asylum seekers were rescued as part of a group, while the remaining 13 were air-lifted.

27 of them hailed from Mali, 24 from Senegal, 16 from the Ivory Coast, 11 from Guinea Bissau, five from Somalia, and one from each of Benin, Burkina Faso and Guinea Conakry.,
