Emma Cutajar will be the finalist to represent Malta in the Commonwealth Song Contest in 2023, after receving thousands of entries since the last event in 2018.
Cutajar’s song ‘I Miss You’ was chosen as a finalist from a very talented pool of potential candidates.
The Commonwealth Song is back, the first event since 2018 after thousands of musicians from across the nations entered the contest, with artists from India, Canada, Australia, Singapore, The Bahamas, and Saint Lucia performing strongly and securing a place in the finals.
To coincide with the coronation of King Charles III, the Commonwealth Song Contest (CSC) will be opening its doors once again in May to announce the finalist and semi-finalists of the 2022/2023 contest.
Since 2018, tens of thousands of bands, choirs, singers, songwriters, and musicians have entered the contest. Every participant in the UK Songwriting Contest has received automatic and free entry into the CSC, a practice which will continue in 2023.
As with the 2018 Commonwealth Song Contest, the announcement of the finalists in 2023 will be followed by a round of voting, allowing members of the public and the songwriting community to vote for their favourite song.
