As Malta celebrates Santa Marija feast thousands enjoyed spectacular firework displays around the islands
Thousands of people yesterday flocked to villages and towns celebrating the much-loved Santa Marija feast.
All towns and villages boast of having the biggest and most popular feast but when it comes to fireworks, very few can rival the little town of Mqabba.
For a number of years, Mqabba has become synonymous with an inimitable pyrotechnic show which this year included the deployment of a new IT system, PyroDigit, one of the most advanced firing system designed and developed for the realisation of spectacular pyrotechnic choreographies.
Thousands of locals and tourists watched in awe as spectacular fireworks were set off from a steel structure dubbed The Tower of Light to the tune of contemporary and classical music.
The show also included traditional petrads and ground fireworks manufactured by the Mqabba firework factory which has won numerous competitions in Malta and abroad.
