Carmine Lauri returns to play The Four Seasons for brain research

Internationally acclaimed Maltese violinist Carmine Lauri will be performing Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons for brain research on Sunday 27 March 2016 at St Publius Church in Floriana at 7.30pm. Michael Laus will be conducting from the harpsichord a 14-piece string ensemble.

Carmine Lauri is the Co-Leader of the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) for the past 15 years, the Concertmaster of the Oxford Philharmonic and Guest Leader of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also been guest concertmaster of various orchestras including the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the London Philharmonic, the Rotterdam Philharmonic, the Bournemouth Symphony, Manchester Camerata and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra under distinguished conductors such as Lorin Maazel, Bernard Haitink, Sir Colin Davis, Sir Antonio Pappano, Riccardo Chailly, Pierre Boulez, Valery Gergiev and many others.

Following his participation in The Four Seasons in Malta, he will be performing Bottesini’s Grand Duo with the Oxford Philharmonic. Carmine currently plays a violin by Nicholas Lupot made in ca 1780.

The Four Seasons is being held in aid of brain research projects within the University of Malta and organised by the University’s Research Trust (RIDT). The concert is sponsored by APS Bank and the ADRC Trust, and supported by Studio 7 and the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.
