Blame it on eumelanin

Muscat is pig-headed on migration: shocking, considering he fancies himself to be progressive and an icon for the liberal Maltese

Joseph Muscat had been born with significantly more eumelanin pigment in his skin cells, he would look something like the image above. Black supremacists believe that people with more eumelanin are superior to inferior whites.

So there you go.

And I doubt he would have been elected leader of the Labour Party. He could have perhaps gathered a few progressives around him, but nothing like the crowds that gathered at his mass meetings before March.

To illustrate perfectly the way most Maltese deal with the issue of colour, just read what happened to a dark-skinned Maltese woman who happens to be an Arriva driver.

On Friday, a woman - a second Maltese woman, who also has relatively dark skin but who thinks she is white - decided to verbally abuse an Arriva driver, whom she obviously assumed to be from Lesotho.

(By the way, most Maltese think that Lesotho is the trade name of Vaseline. In fact, it is a country in Africa, where civilisation kicked off thousands of years ago.)

The driver was called "black", and it was suggested to her that she should go home. Home, in this case, was Malta.

It is a great pity that the discerning passengers on the bus were unaware that their ancestors must have been Arabs. It is worrisome that they seemed ignorant of the religion of those same ancestors: they were Muslims.

The stark truth is that whereas European racists are bloody stupid and sick in the head, they can at least boast of having white skin and looking truly Caucasian. In our case, many of us could easily be mistaken for Libyans, Tunisians or Lebanese.

Maltese are in the vast majority rather dark-skinned - and they all speak a Semitic language and are usually completely devoid of any culture or historical insight.

There are exceptions. For example, Joseph Muscat is neither dark-skinned nor stupid.

He is however rather pig-headed when it comes to migrants. A shocking revelation, considering he fancies himself to be progressive and an icon for the liberal Maltese.

I'm afraid that he may just have lost them overnight.

The immigration issue is not about a threat to our economy or our cultural identity (whether we have one or not is another matter). Rather, it is a reflection of our hysterical response to colour.

On the contrary, most economists would welcome an injection of migrants to our society. They would pay taxes like the doctors and lawyers (sick joke) and contribute their national insurance for an ageing population.

Let us for a moment just imagine that instead of dark-skinned Africans we were invaded by a dinghy full of Ukrainian or Russian women.

Obviously our stereotype of the female Slav is that she beds anyone and provides unbounded sexual pleasure.

Stereotypes are difficult to dispel, most especially when your brain's neuron density is equivalent to that of a sea urchin.

A society devoid of culture and identity is a threat to its own existence.

We are a racist country, with the odd exception. The real issue is that we are unable to deal with the colour black and with a supremacy fixation (meaning an inferiority complex) that we are Christian, white and at the centre of the world.

In the last 10 years an average of 1,387 migrants a year reached these shores, and most of them did not stay with us. They moved on.

The fact that most were not integrated but forced to hang out in their usual ghettos - identified as either detention centres or open centres - raised the 'racism' barometer in Marsa, Safi and Birzebbugia.

Muscat has jumped on the anti-black bandwagon, knowing that he cannot lose points in what I call the 'gift scheme' of doing politics.

Muscat has definitely managed to attract the attention of the European Union and the Libyans, but managed to enrage those he would probably describe as 'the bohemians'.

Well, the bohemians are not like that uncouth, overweight Maltese racist who taunted a Maltese, dark-skinned Arriva driver to go back home. They are definitely more comfortable and better off, but they are also the ones who rallied around Muscat to make things happen for him.

Dottor Joseph Muscat met up with the EU council president and the Libyan deputy prime minister and emphasised that the solution is very simple.

Strengthen Libya's southern border controls and stop those bloody Eritreans and Somalis from entering the country.

Let them rot in their own countries and fight between themselves and kill each other.

And then, when the first chance suddenly appears to make a donation to some mission fund, let us be the first ones to prove ourselves charitable.

As long as they don't set foot in this blessed country. That is the motto.

The 1,300 migrants who reach our shores every year are not an issue.

The issue, I am afraid, is the politicians and the people who cannot quite accept the fact that black people or dark-skinned people are human beings after all.

During the campaign, there was always the token appearance of a dark-skinned child or adult.

I hope you all realise that this was all a whole load of baloney.

I'm really confused.

The Church speaks out for migrants but has a problem with gays.

The Labour Party speaks out in favour of gays but has a problem with migrants.

I wonder whether I should just lock myself up in my study and read the writings of the Lebanese poet Kahlil Gibran: "Generosity is giving more than you can, and pride is taking less than you need."

I think you made some unfair comments Mr Balzan. Too much generalisation.

What arrogance! So now I'm a racist simply because I don't agree with Saviour Balzan's opinion. Of course I feel for these people. They are the victims of centuries of colonialist speculation. The colour of their skin is of no consequence to me ( I have met many Maltese and people of European origin whom I would not care to have anything to do with.) But why should we be made the scapegoat simply because we are on their way to a better future in the countries of Europe. They don't want to stay in Malta. They want to benefit from the riches resulting from the criminal plundering of their own countries. We didn't rob them. The ex-colonialists did. Those countries should shoulder their responsibilities for these poor souls' plight. But I have never seen any of the foregoing comments in Saviour Balzan's writings. No, he has to flog the Maltese. Shame on you, Saviour.

Eumelanin indeed!! I suppose that's the view of those "albinos" - when one sees the definition. Now that's laughable. Obviously all reason on this subject has gone out of the window......Blacks or whites in the Maltese population have the same temperament! They attack and can say anything. I agree with those that said this attempt by Balzan is as crude and rude as the best of DCG's.

Mr Balzan you called the Church and the PL prejudiced and I assume that you think that the PN is a pure people? You just insulted the Slav women calling them whores. Why did you have to bring something like that up if you do not mean it. But because you are the head of a newspaper you think you have a special stereotyping license? What happened with those bus drivers could have happened with other Maltese bus drivers and you know it. Why did you bring the church and the Gays up? Why the PL and the blacks? I call this instigating by the man who is in charge of a news media. Stereotyping Slav women is just the same as stereotyping, blacks, Maltese, Romanians, Italians and every other nationality on this earth. What do you call Maltese that stereotype American and British and the sort? But that is OK with you. You have your personal opinion but like Joseph Muscat and Simon Busuttil you have a sacrosanct duty not to use your position to critisize us Maltese, not when you are prejudiced yourself..

OMG Now that someone has dared call a spade a spade instead of calling it a spoon there are many who are taking him on and waiting with a cross, hammer and nails ready to crucify him on sight! The inferiority complex that subtends racism of dark skin southern europeans and extends further to the south against any darker skin than thou is so much pronounced that some even call it a a complex of compensation (do't ask me for what!). It is true that many have no idea of how they would be looked upon if they landed in an EU land where people have less melanin than theirs. The only worrying consolation is that racism thuggery is not the exclusivity of Maltese but it does not make it more acceptable for this reason! There is a problem of credibility here: scratch beneath the physiognomy of even those organisations (names withheld) which champion the cause of immigrants... their staff (rarely) hardly include any darker skin than their own! Well... sometimes one wonders why comes spring and summer, people hit the road in search for suntan ... darker skin...

I had to check twice the author of this article as I thought I am reading something from DCG, but i was wrong. Except much better from you Mr Balzan. You should have mentioned the initiative to bring around the Table Libya and EU. You should have mentioned the fact that at last we have a PM who wants to really grab the bull by its horn. But no Salv, you are behaving as if you are Ivan Camilleri or DCG !

If things keep going the way they are going the Maltese people will be the minority on these islands. Muslim people creat chaos where ever they go, look at what is happened in England, France and Australia look what is happening in their own countries.

Saviour said, Quote 'In the last 10 years an average of 1,387 migrants a year reached these shores, and most of them did not stay with us. They moved on.' This statement absolutely cannot be true.
avatar
I strongly urge the government to urgently open a migrant 'Open Centre' in the Sliema area. It seems that the likes of Saviour Balzan, Michael Falzon and others are oblivious to what is happening in Marsa,Birzebbugia, Hal Safi and other areas.
avatar
so, Saviour, you are saying that behind all the university, catholicism, festi u qaddisin the Maltese are racist...True to a a certain extent..you see we, the Maltese are standing on the periphery of this minute island, all looking inside towards each other with our backs to the world...but is it not true that this is the reality of all island people..... all are conscious of the fact that being small they are weak and therefore they have a defensive mentality, which is based on inferiority complex and therefore fear

This is a very sad article for a number of reasons. 1 It uses more racist/racialist terminology than a Norman Lowell speech. 2. It seems to assume that it is white people (whom you call "Caucasian" although the people of the Caucasus do not look like the people you are referring to and they can also be Muslims)who are usually racist. Unfortunately for all of us this is a universal phenomenon. 3.You imply that most Maltese are racist, actually the tone implies that practically all of your readers are and that the reaction to the female driver is "typical". 4. You also seem to assume that Joseph Muscat is a racist, which is definitely not the case. Although I am sure that some of your statements are tongue in cheek I still have to admit that I expected more liberal arguments from MT.

Mr. Balzan you are beginining to sound more and more like DCC, you are not by any chance suggesting that the majority of Maltese who voted for change are similar to the person you described above are you? Well you could have fooled me, I thought you too voted for this change. The Labour Party has no problem with helping illegal migrants on their way to Europe, the problem is that we have been by and large ignored by a Union that stands for solidarity among its member states, but like in everything else, some are more equal than others, and much to the migrants dissatisfaction at not being allowed to proceed to their preferred country of destination, and ours where some areas on this small island already seem to have become 'no go' zones to the Maltese.

Mr. Balzan I know two wrongs do make a right. But I have been an emigrant and I wrote my experience, it was hard, my family cried, I came back with a brakedown, no body, no body including the church and all the money we send abroad for charity did I get any to help from to get me start. It hurt me Mr. Balzan when I ready that we are like Arabs, so are the Turks, Greeks, Italians, French, Spaniards and all of North Africa. When I landing I had to speak in English and quickly go and find a place were to stay me and my family. The locals told me a thousand times to 'go home' and I answered a thousand times when I save the money I will, we are called 'displaced persons' or not to worry because we make them go and they called us 'Theygo'. Other Maltese used to tell me to ignore them. Sir, we live on a small rock at least grant the fact that we just can not keep receiving insulting remarks like I saw in another English speaking paper by foreigners. Simple deduction tell were else can we go to live in peace?

funnily enough, Saviour, yeserday your paper published 3 surveys on all and saundry, but not one on pushbacks. Could it be because, in spite of what your paper and the other right wing media are pontificating about, all the surveys currently running on the web, INCLUDING YOUR OWN, are all showing a huge support for the PM's stand ?
avatar
Saviour, your puerile arguments on migration smacks of cheap Politically Correct arguments that are blind to reality and just go round in circles without providing any solutions.

Whoa! Saviour, You are beginning to sound like DCG! May God have mercy on us.
