Suspended sentence after man pleads guilty to stealing number of items over three days
Accused admits to three-day stealing spree

A man was handed a suspended sentence after pleading guilty to stealing various items over a three-day period.
Mohamed Haroun Mohamed, a 34-year-old Sudanese national who has no fixed residence, appeared in court after stealing a shirt and bag from a clothing establishment in Sliema on 27 July. A day later, he stole an iPhone from a different establishment in Sliema, before finally stealing a protective case for the phone the following day.
The validity of the arrest was not contested as the defendant, who claimed to run his own company, pleaded guilty to the charges. This admission was confirmed after the court afforded the man time to reconsider.
He was ultimately handed a two-year prison term, suspended for four years.
It is understood that all stolen items, saving the shirt, have been returned.
Mohamed was ordered to pay a sum of €48.70 within three months.
AG lawyer Neville Galea and Inspector Elton Buckingham prosecuted.
