Suspended sentence for migrant returned to Malta

A Sudanese migrant who absconded from Malta and arrived in Norway, was handed a suspended sentence after admitting to traveling without valid documentation

Sudanese national Sadik Musa was handed a suspended jail term after pleading guilty to absconding from Malta without valid traveling documents.

The 23-year-old was returned to Malta by the Norwegian authorities after he was found to be staying illegally in Norway. He pleaded guilty to the charges.

Prosecuting inspector Mario Haber exhibited documents relating to the identity of the Sudanese youth and the documents found in his possession. 

Considering the accused's guilty plea, Magistrate Ian Farrugia handed Musa a six-month jail term suspended for 18 months.
