Man falls off scaffolding while putting out fire

44-year-old Gozitan seriously injured after falling some five metres off a scaffolding while trying to put out a fire caused by ground fireworks

A 44-year-old man was seriously injured when he fell off a scaffolding in Kercem, Gozo.

The incident occurred at around 00:45am in Triq il-Kalandrijiet, Kercem, when the man fell some give metres off the scaffolding as he tried to put out a fire caused by ground fireworks.

The man was taken to Gozo General Hospital, where he was certified as suffering from grievous injuries.

His injuries are not life-threatening.

Police investigations are ongoing.
