Four foreign nationals charged with cannabis trafficking

Mubarak Suleman Mohumed and Abdinur Shucayb Mohammed, 29 from Somalia, together with Yebio Beyen from Eritrea and Sisto Akaouch from Germany, were charged with drug possession and trafficking

Four men have been remanded in custody for cannabis possession and trafficking in separate arraignments today.

Inspector Gabriel Micallef and Inspector Frank Anthony Tabone arraigned Mubarak Suleman Mohumed, a 21 year old Somali, Yebio Beyen, 41, from Eritrea, Abdinur Shucayb Mohammed, 29 from Somalia and Sisto Akaouch, 25 from Germany before magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech this morning, charging them with possession of cannabis and selling cannabis resin within 100m of a place frequented by youngsters. The crime is alleged to have taken place last Saturday.

Lawyer Joe Brincat, appearing for all four of the men, entered a plea of not guilty and requested bail.

The court did not entertain the bail requests and ordered the men to be remanded in custody.
