Updated | Schoolchildren seriously hurt in minibus traffic collision
A minibus carrying some 15 schoolchildren was involved in a collision with another car in Burmarrad earlier this afternoon. Police say some children had been certified as suffering from grievous injuries



Police say a number of children have been certified as having been grievously injured after the minibus they were travelling in was involved in a collision with a car, with the van coming to a halt against the façade of a residence.
The incident happened this afternoon at 2.30pm in Burmarrad Road, Burmarrad.
Several ambulances and paramedics rushed to site to assist the driver and the children. MaltaToday is informed that the van was carrying some 15 children, all aged between 9 and 10.

The driver was certified as having suffered slight injuries. Despite initial reports of no major injuries having occurred as a result, police said this afternoon that a number of the children had been certified as having suffered grevious injuries. The number of children grievously injured could not be confirmed at the time of asking.
Traffic police have also been dispatched to assist the ambulances.
