A Nigerian national has been arrested after Customs officers discovered over 1kg of cannabis in her belongings at MIA on Tuesday.

The Customs Department said the woman's belongings were flagged after going through an x-ray machine. A subsequent search lead to the discovery of five plastic wrapped packets, which the passenger claimed to be dried fish.

A narcotics field test was conducted which revealed that the contents were marijuana.

The drugs in the passenger's possession weighed a total of 1.1kg.

The Police Anti-Drug Squad was informed and the passenger placed under arrest pending investigations, with her expected to be arraigned in court on Wednesday.
