Workers late to work due to new Arriva system shouldn’t be penalised, says UHM

Union Haddiema Maqghudin tells employers not to penalise workers who are late for work due to the problems caused by the newly-launched public transport system.

The Union Haddiema Maqghudin’s government workers sector said that it received many complaints of commuters who spent significant amounts of time waiting for a bus to arrive and take them to work. The union said this had led to a large number of workers arriving at work late.

The UHM is appealing to everyone so that none of these workers suffer a salary reduction as the workers are not at fault for the current situation.

The union added that it has been given to understand that the public transport reform will take some time before the system runs smoothly, and appealed to all employers, including the government, to be understanding.

The Union said it has already spoken with the Public Administration Human Resources Office (PAHRO) within the Office of the Prime Minister so that no workers suffer a reduction in salary due to arriving late to work.
