Richard Cachia Caruana back at Castille
Richard Cachia Cauana –Malta’s permanent representative to the European Union and Eddie Fenech Adami’s former personal assistant is back at Castille as a member of a board advising government on strategic policies.
The 'policy advisory board' within the Office of the Prime Minister was set up last February and is chaired by John Bonello former senior partner of Pricewater House Cooper is composed of senior government officials and persons from the private sector.
The members include the Prime Minister’s chief of staff Edgar Galea Curmi, Principle Permanent Secretary Godwin Grima and permanent secretary in the Ministry of Finance Alfred Camilleri. The members from the private sector are Helga Ellul former President of the Chamber of Commerce and chief executive of Playmobil and Pierre Mallia chief executive of iMovo Ltd. The board also serves as a management board for the Management Efficiency Unit.
The board was first proposed in the MEPA reform to advise the OPM on planning policies. But its scope was widened to cover the strategic policies of the government. The composition of the board was revealed by the Prime Minister in reply to a parliamentary question by Jesmond Mugliett.
