12,714 voters died since last general elections

The electoral registry published in 2011 shows that 12,714 voters died since 2008 but the total number of eligible voters will still be higher in 2012 with more voters added to the registry.

Based on the most recent electoral registry, upon which early elections will be based, 12,714 people have died since the last general elections in 2008.

The last electoral registry published in October 2011 estimates a total of 328,088 eligible voters, with an increased difference of 12,961 when compared with the electoral registry published in March 2008.

Looking at figures for the possible upcoming general elections, 23,487 new voters have been added and will be voting for the first time since turning 18 years of age.

Another 2,838 new voters have been added to the electoral registry after gaining Maltese citizenship or after serving a prison sentence.
