3,507 operations carried out at Mater Dei in one month

According to statistics published by the Ministry for Health, a total of 3,507 operations were carried out last month, marking an increase of 121 operations over February 2011.

The ministry added that the figure also represented an increase of 837 operations when compared to February 2007, during St Luke's Hospital's last year.

During 2011, a total of 43,747 operations were carried out, marking an increase of 1,952 operations over 2010.
