President of German parliament in Malta next week
The President of the German Parliament Norbert Lammert to visit Malta on Monday and Tuesday.
The President of the German Parliament Norbert Lammert, will pay an Official Visit to Malta on Monday and Tuesday.
At the start of his visit, Lammert will pay a courtesy call on The President of Malta George Abela and on the Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi.
Lammert and his delegation will have official talks with his counterpart, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Michael Frendo, with the parliamentary standing committee on foreign and European affairs and with the joint parliamentary friendship group between Malta and Germany.
Lammert and Frendo will give a public lecture on the role of parliaments in the current financial and debt crisis within the European Union at The Palace in Valletta.
During his stay in Malta, Lammert and his delegation will also meet the Minister for Home and Parliamentary Affairs and Leader of the House, Carm Mifsud Bonnici, as well as a delegation from the Opposition which will be led by the Labour's deputy leader Anglu Farrugia.
Lammert is a sociologist and was elected as President of the German parliament in 2005 on behalf of the ruling Christian Democratic Union (CDU).
