Union and security firm solve impasse after months of disagreement
Signal 8 Security accepts General Workers Union’s request for workers’ representation.
The General Workers' Union and Signal 8 Security have reached an agreement to start working on industrial relations after months of disagreements between the two sides on precarious work.
Signal 8 Security had also been one of the companies named and shamed by the union for what it claimed to be employing workers on precarious conditions.
But in a joint statement, both sides announced that they will be working together as both were against precarious work.
"We want clients of Signal 8 Security to know that industrial relations between us and the company have now been normalised," the union said.
Both sides agreed to start working on industrial relations after the union asked to represent the company's workers.
Official recognition was given through a letter sent by Signal 8 Security to the union.
On its part, Signal 8 Security reiterated the need for the authorities to set up a structure by which security operators could work in a regulated field.
