Internal investigation confirms wrong corpse taken for burial

An internal investigation at elderly residence St Vincent de Paul Residence (SVPR) revealed that the wrong body had been taken from the residence's morgue for burial.

This was revealed through a parliamentary question raised by Nationalist MP Mario Galea.

According to Family Minister Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, the incident happened on 23 March.

"An internal investigation was ordered to establish the facts. The new management took the necessary steps to avoid a repetition of such incidents," the minister replied.

It is however unclear when the alarm was raised and whether the body had already been buried.
