Russian caught smuggling 2.5 kg of heroin
25 year-old Russian, residing in Lithuania has been arrested by the police as he was discovered attempting to smuggle 2.5 kgs of heroin into Malta.
The Russian was found to have hid the drugs in false bottoms dug inside his shoes as he went through customs checks when he had just landed with a flight from Brussels.
An inquiry led by Magistrate Claire Zammit Stafrace is underway.
Further investigations by the Police Drug Squad are also underway.
