Literary works of Maltese authors displayed in Hungary
Over 40 books written by Maltese authors, most of them in Maltese, were displayed at the 18th International Book Festival in Budapest, Hungary.
Malta’s participation in the International Book Festival was coordinated by the Embassy of Malta in Vienna assisted by the National Book Council in Malta and the Central Public Library in Floriana.
Ambassador of Malta to Hungary Christopher Grima said that interest in the Maltese language amongst the European public has increased since Maltese became an official language within the European Union.
“Participation in similar events also provides an opportunity to promote the language and Maltese literary works,” Grima said.
Maltse author Clare Azzopardi was also present at the festival, during which she took part in various literary events together with other authors from the EU.
