18kg of cannabis discovered on fishing boat

Two men are being held by the police after 18kg of cannabis resin was found on their fishing boat early this morning.

The discovery was made after a raid by police of the drug section and the Rapid Intervention Unit (RIU) upon the boat’s arrival in Marsaxlokk bay around 2am.

The police are questioning a 30-year old man from Birgu and a 37-year old from Xgħajra. The two are expected to be arraigned in court later on today.

Police investigations are still ongoing.
