Foreign students to benefit from reduced fares with tallinja card
Malta Public Transport explained how the registration process for the tallinja card can be facilitated for students, irrespective of their nationality or place of residence.

As of 1July, English language students started benefitting from the same public transport arrangements as all other students when using the tallinja card.
The registration of these students for the tallinja card was discussed in a meeting held earlier this week between FELTOM (Federation of English Language Teaching Organisations Malta) and the English as a Foreign Language Monitoring Board with Malta Public Transport.
During the meeting, Malta Public Transport explained how the registration process for the tallinja card can be facilitated for students, irrespective of their nationality or place of residence.
English language students younger than 16 years of age as well as students attending a course for longer than 90 days may thus register for a student card. All other English language students aged 16 and over may apply for an adult card and benefit from the reduced fares incurring no registration fee for the card.
Genevieve Abela, FELTOM'S CEO, thanked Malta Public Transport for their support, which in itself is a recognition of the importance of the ELT industry in Malta. She stressed that this arrangement is a step, which also reaffirms FELTOM'S commitment in providing support to ELT organisations when discussing with stakeholders that provide a service to the industry.
"More than 77,000 students visited Malta to learn English in 2014. Through this initiative, we can ensure that all students will continue to benefit from reduced fares when paying with their tallinja card when using the public transport." said Daniel Grech, Commercial Director of Malta Public Transport.
Students of EFL schools may apply online at tallinja.com for their tallinja card.
