Enemalta owes €101 million to contractors
National state-owned energy supplier Enemalta owes €101,079,863 to contractors who won various tenders to supply various services and resources, weekly newspaper Kulhadd says.
This €101 million does not include the €557 debt that the corporation debt has already incurred thus far. Among the institutions Enemalta is indebted to are Bank of Valletta, HSBC, APS, DEPFA Bank, and the European Investment Bank.
According to other figures, Air Malta also owes €1,366,974, the Water Services Corporation owes €937,528, and the Customs Department owes €77,343.85.
Kulhaddalso points out that over the past year, the national debt increased by €291 million, meaning that it increased by 7.5 per cent.
This information was revealed through a parliamentary question answered last week by Finance Minister Tonio Fenech.
