Melita shareholders investing €4.5 million in cash in mobile operations
The additional cash injection into Melita Capital p.l.c. by its shareholders will be used for the continued operation and development of its mobile business in Malta, operated by Melita Mobile.
In its statement, Melita said that 22 months since launching a nationwide 3G mobile network, “Melita Mobile is Malta’s fastest-growing mobile operator and this additional equity will be used to fund the growth of the mobile operation.”
It added that “significant improvements in quality of mobile services have already been registered, with an increased customer satisfaction rate reflected directly as consistent growth in both subscribers and minutes of usage.”
Melita said it has also restructured its businesses and created a holding company which now owns all the various companies operating under the Melita brand.
“We are pleased to share that our shareholders are highly encouraged by our success and growth in the mobile market, and have decided to strengthen the Melita Capital balance sheet for further investment in Melita’s mobile business” said Group Chief Executive Officer.Andrei Torriani.
The operating companies owned by the newly-formed holding company include Melita p.l.c., Melita Capital p.l.c, Melita Media Ltd, Melita Infrastructure Ltd and Melita Mobile Ltd.
