Zebbug to announce ‘security measures’ to counter surge in criminality
The Zebbug local council is set to announce what it described as “international initiatives” to counter the surge in criminality that has been registered in the locality over the past few weeks.
In a statement, the Council’s executive secretary said that the council has been in contact with various European organizations that specialize in urban security, and has agreed to proceed with implementing a number of measures intended to curb the surge in criminality.
“We will be announcing the initiatives in the coming days to ensure security and order in the locality,” the statement said.
Over the past days, shop owners and residents have been targeted by thieves.
The Zebbug local council said that the number of cases reported has “risen sharply” when compared to the previous year.
