PN leader hopeful Said declares financial interests: 'All cards on the table'

PN leadership contestant Chris Said has published a declaration of his and his immediate family's assets, declaring that "all cards are on the table for me".

Said published a declaration of his assets during a press conference at the PN party club of Birkirkara -'the home town of fellow leadership contestant Adrian Delia.

"All cards are on the table for me and, if elected leader I promise to publish a declaration of my assets every year," he said.

The declaration shows that Said owns a house in Nadur, an apartment in Lija, and an office in Rabat, (Gozo) and co-owns an apartment in Nadur.

Said, his wife and children have a combined €50,293 deposited in accounts held at BOV, Banif and Lombard, and he also has a €52,596 loan with the latter bank.

He has also invested €2,312 in a Valletta Fund Management fund, €4,900 in BOV subordinate bonds, and €5,448 in insurance from MSV Life. 

In his press conference, Said pledged to empower the PN's general council -composed  of.some 1,500 delegates - to elect the party's secretary general every two years.

He also promised to empower the PN's electoral office (Elcom), entrusting it with internal surveys and giving it 15 seats in the General Council and three seats in the Executive Council.

Asked by MaltaToday whether Simon Busuttil will have a role in his future shadow Cabinet, Said confirmed that he intends to work side by side with the outgoing PN leader.

“The PN still needs Simon Busuttil and, as leader, I intend to work side by side with him to fight corruption,” he said. “What was illegal and corrupt before the election is still illegal and corrupt now, and I promise that we will double down on our fight against corruption.”
